Dr Lynise Wearne is Associate Director – Water at Greening Australia, leading an integrated portfolio of wetland, riparian and catchment restoration across Great Barrier Reef catchments. She is now growing that portfolio to integrate water outcomes across Greening Australia's wider program. A PhD-qualified ecologist with more than 20 years in government, consulting and the non-profit sector, she previously served as Program Director for Reef Aid, growing it from a single wetland project into a multi-year program of around 30 projects spanning sediment reduction, blue carbon, dissolved inorganic nitrogen and nature finance. Lynise also manages the Queensland Indigenous Land Conservation Program, now in its sixth year across three Traditional Owner groups and funded for a further four. Her work increasingly centres on co-design with Traditional Owners, including the Cape Palmerston tidal reintroduction pilot delivered with Yuwi. She is particularly drawn to projects that deliver lasting impact for the environment and for First Nations people
